What is the difference between stainless steel clamp fittings and carbon steel materials?

Steel is widely used in Bridges, railways, construction, processing equipment, machinery, automobiles and other fields. The steel grades used in the above applications are based on mechanical properties and corrosion protection requirements. So what is the difference between carbon steel and stainless steel clamp fittings?


In general, carbon steel is an alloy of elements such as iron and carbon, which differ in composition. The higher the carbon content of carbon steel, the harder and more brittle, and the lower the value, the stronger. Therefore, it can be said that the difference between carbon steel and stainless steel clamp fittings is the combination.


Mechanical properties: The content of alloying elements determines the mechanical properties of the steel, such as hardness, tensile strength, brittleness and ductility. For example, nickel trapped in stainless steel pipes makes them more malleable and strong. Their composition plays an important role in mechanical properties, as these alloying elements are the main features that determine the lattice structure of steel.


Appearance: Stainless steel is hard to tarnish, so it looks better than carbon steel. Therefore, in order to maintain the beauty of the work, carbon steel should be often painted to avoid corrosion.

Carbon steel alloys are more economical than compressed stainless steel tubes because they do not contain expensive elements. The cost of stainless steel depends entirely on other alloy materials, but all variants are obviously more expensive than carbon steel.

Corrosion resistance: Carbon steel and stainless steel clamp fittings can be polished to obtain a smooth surface. However, for carbon steel, the surface should be protected with a proper coating to prevent rust, but for clamped stainless steel tubes, this is not necessary. The reason is simple. The presence of chromium in stainless steel clamp fittings provides an oxide shield for this material, providing excellent corrosion resistance to most known chemicals.
